This beautiful winter hike begins next to the Gasthof Post in Waidring, where Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart stayed during one of his many journies. The building itself is located on a plateau offering fine views of the Steinplatte Waidring mountains. Inndeed, on a clear day you can almost see the gothic church of pilgrimage in the distance and the Gasthof St. Adolari, a good place to stop off for a drink and a snack. The church of pilgrimage dates back to the 15th century and is consecrated to Adalar, a follower of Saint Boniface. From the church it is just a short walk until you reach the start of the Pillersee lake, before following the shoreline into the centre of pretty St. Ulrich. Mozart would have ridden back in a horse and carriage, but these days there is a bus service back to the starting point in Waidring.
