Trail description
From the car park in Hoch-Imst, the route meanders up to Untermarkter Alm through gorgeous winter wonderland. The route parallels the ski run and ascends the mountain with a gentle grade and a few brief steeper sections. Warm up at Untermarkter Alm Lodge before riding the chair lift back down to Hoch-Imst.
If you’re looking for a little further exploration, press on to Latschen Hut from Untermarkter Alm Lodge. This trip adds 30 minutes of climbing and roughly 150 vertical meters. Pause for a rest, relax and watch the snow fly with a warm drink at quaint Latschen Hut. Once replete and refreshed, retrace your steps to Untermarkter Alm and ride the chair lift down. Or, walk down to Hoch-Imst from Latschen Hut along beautiful Opferstockweg Trail. The descent takes some 2 hours to complete so be careful if you’re running low on daylight or time. Many snowshoers and other visitors take this route, tromping a path down the hillside. So unless you are visiting just after a big dump of snow, it’s likely there will be tracks as your route-finding source. If you don’t encounter tracks, you are strongly recommended to retrace your steps to Untermarkter Alm Lodge and ride the chair lift down to the valley.
