There is something special about a traditional alpine hut covered in snow in winter. One of the finest anywhere in Tirol is the Stablalm, perched on a sunny plateau above the Lechtal Valley and easily accessible via a hiking path. From its majestic position 1412 metres above sea level it offers fabulous views of the meandering Lech river and iconic mountains in the valley such as the Pfeilspitze and the Kreuzspitze. Those who have worked up a hunger hiking to the hut will be pleased to know that the Stablalm serves a selection of culinary highlights from the Lechtal Valley.

Trail description
This delightful winter walk begins at the "Stabl-Parkplatz" car park in Elmen. The wide forest trail leads leads over the Antetalbach river and gently ascends until it reaches the wide open clearing named "Mühlboden". From there, two switchbacks bring you up to Stablhütte and, a little further on, the Stablalm hut itself. Retrace your steps to get back to the starting point.
Food & drink: The Stablalm serves excellent food from the Lechtal Valley. The dried bacon is smoked on-site using a traditional technique.
