Winter hike
Fieberbrunn - Zillstatt - Streuböden

Rural life, beautiful landscapes, calm lakes and traditional inns serving excellent food and drink - this winter hike combines many of the things which make Tirol so special. The Lauchsee and Moorsee lakes are a great place for a cooling swim in summer, while in winter they are snowy a haven of peace and quiet. After passing the Zillstattalm hut in the centre of the local ski resort, continue to either the Alpengasthof Wildalpgatterl, which is a member of the KochArt association, or the Gasthof Streuböden Alm. Both inns offer fine food made with ingredients sourced from the local region.

Trail description

This hike begins in the centre of Fieberbrunn and leads pas the parish church towards the Lauchsee lake. After passing the "Sozialzentrum / Kindergarten" turn off left into the forest and continue all the way to the lake. Then follow the road uphill for a short while, past farmsteads as far as the end of the valley. At one of the last farmsteads in the valley, turn off left towards Streuböden. The first few turns lead uphill through the forest before reaching an area of open meadowland all the way to the Zillstattalm hut. Cross the ski piste at the point indicated and turn either right to the Alpengasthof Wildalpgatterl (approx. 10 minutes) or left towards the mid-way station of the lifts in Streuböden, where hikers will also find the Gasthof Streuböden Alm (aprox. 10 minutes). Return either along the way you came or take the cable car down into the valley and travel back to the centre of Fieberbrunn.

Tip! This hike is easier in the opposite direction (village centre - bottom lift station in Streuböden - take the gondola up to the mid-way station of the cable car).
