Fallerschein is not only the largest high Alpine village in Tirol but also one of the most beautiful. Well worth a visit at any time of the year, it is the destination of this easy snowshoe hike that meanders along Sommerbergbach Creek into the valley. After crossing the pretty wooden bridge over the Leitenbach Creek, the short but steep final approach brings hikers to Fallerschein and on to an excellent vantage point with a mighty cross overlooking the village’s houses at an elevation of 1,310 meters above sea level.

Trail description
Starting at the bus stop of the "Fallerschein– Namlos–Kelmen" taxi shuttle service, the route first leads along the road to Hohe Brugg (elev. 1,178m, bridge where the road bends) and then takes the trail above Sommerbergbach Creek into the valley. After around a quarter of an hour, hikers will reach the road to Fallerschein (elev. 1,225m, signposted). This road leads gently uphill to a bridge over the Leitenbach Creek (elev. 1,250m) with an eye-catching wooden handrail, before becoming a little steeper as it approaches the village of Fallerschein and the "Maria zum guten Rat" Chapel that was built in 1844. The final section heads through the village and up to the easily visible Heimkehrerkreuz Cross, which was erected in 1948 (elev. 1,310m).Return to your starting point by the same way you came. Please Note: Be prepared to adjust your activity based on current conditions. As a general rule, if there is fresh snow, conditions may be better suited for snowshoeing; if the snow is old and well-travelled, it may be better for winter walking.
