Trail description
This snowshoe walk starts at the church in the centre of Obergurgl and heads south past the Bundessportheim, a local sports training centre, to the Mahdstuhllift and the Zirben-Alm hut with the bottom station of the Steinmannbahn cable car. Behind it begins the 400-year-old stone pine forest, through which you continue upwards on a narrow path. On the right there are fine views of the Rotmoos gorge. At the end you will pass the reservoir, cross a bridge - and find the Schönwieshütte hut appears in front of the majestic panorama of the Ötztal Alps. After a stop at the hut for a snack and a drink, return along the way you came.
