Snow-covered forests and meadows await walkers on this winter adventure starting in Ellmau and leading to the Biedringer Alm hut. The Biedringer Platte offers fabulous views of the Kitzbühel Alps. From bottom to top this walk climbs 400 vertical metres, so walkers should have good general fitness and remember to take a snack with them as the hut is closed and there are no other places serving food or drink along the way.

Trail description
The walk begins on a tarmac road at the tourist information office in Ellmau. At the intersection between the Kapellenweg and the Birkenweg roads, follow the Birkenweg in a northerly direction. Cross the golf course and continue to the hamlet of Wimm. Keep right and climb up to another hamlet called Riesen. Here, a walking trail branches off left into the Riesenwald forest and eventually up to the Biedringer Platte all the way to the (closed) Biedringer Alm hut. It is here that the descent begins, leading down via a series of switchback corners via the settlement of Biedring to the starting point in the centre of Ellmau.
