The ski resort of Obertilliach is located in the Lesachtal Valley, the southernmost part of East Tirol, and boasts not only snowsure slopes but also fabulous views of the Dolomites.
Obertilliach is probably most famous for its biathlon stadium and as one of the world's most popular training locations for top athletes competing in the Nordic disciplines of cross-country skiing and biathlon. One of the reasons that professional athletes and holidaymakers alike flock to this quiet corner of East Tirol in winter is because of its very reliable snow conditions throughout the winter – a quality also appreciated by alpine skiers. The small local ski resort on the Golzentipp mountain overlooking the village is particularly suitable for families with children and those who like to cruise the slopes. Beginners of all ages can take lessons at the Obertilliach Ski School. There is also a children's learning area known as Tilly Kids' Camp with rollers, small jumps and a tunnel. The resort is south-facing, ensuring plenty of sunshine both on the slopes and on the large terrace of the ConnyAlm restaurant at 2,050m. Another advantage for families is that the ski pass prices here are very reasonable.
