Description

There are not many ski resorts beyond the high-altitude glacier slopes that offer their guests a season from November to May. In Gurgl in the very south of Ötztal, however, this is exactly what you can count on. The long-lasting snow guarantee is due to the high altitude of 1,800 to 3,080 meters and the northern orientation of the slopes.

Winter sports enthusiasts will find a large number of slopes for all ability levels in the high alpine arena, which is one of the first non-glacier ski areas to open for the season every fall. There is also a fun park, many scenic freeride routes, night skiing and a huge selection of huts, restaurants and bars. The biggest attraction among them is the "Top Mountain Star" on the Wurmkogel. Here, a refreshment stop is followed by a view, and a very special one at that. The futuristic panorama bar sits on a narrow fixed ridge at 3,080 meters above sea level and offers a magnificent view of the Dolomites and Ötztal Alps.

Many of the lifts, which have almost no waiting times due to their large capacities, start directly in the two villages. The slopes of Obergurgl and Hochgurgl are linked by the Top-Express connecting lift.
