Located to the north of Lake Achensee, the Christlum ski resort lies on the eastern slopes of the Karwendel Mountains and is popular with families, though there is also plenty of terrain for advanced skiers and snowboarders.
The Christlum ski resort in Achenkirch actually has everything that larger wintersports destinations have, just in a smaller and more relaxed setting. The resort is located 45 minutes by car from Innsbruck and 60 minutes from Munich. Snowboarders will enjoy the funpark with its halfpipe, kickers and boardercross course, while families with children are drawn to the separate children's practice area next to the ski school at the top of the resort. The pistes themselves range from blue (easy) to black (expert) and top out at 1,800 metres. Expert skiers and boarders can explore the twisting and turnning "Nordabfahrt" descent leading down into the valley. Especially snowboarders will enjoy the kicker next to the slope on what is one of two black pistes in the resort. Those in search of a long cruising piste can combine red pistes number 2 and number 1 to create a 4km run down to the bottom of the cable car.
