Located in the heart of the Lienz Dolomites, the Karlsbader Hütte is popular with hikers and mountain bikers. It is surrounded on all sides by towering grey limestone rockfaces with craggy peaks and sheer walls measuring up to 1,300 metres from top to bottom. These are popular with rock climbers. Near the hut there is a dedicated rock climbing zone and practice area. Some of the most popular climbing routes are found on the Laserzwand wall. The cosy hut itself, with a number of wood-panelled rooms, serves hearty food accompanied by fine wines. The hut sleeps around 90 guests.
