The highest mountain refuge in the Stubai Alps, the Hochstubaihütte offers wonderful views and is an excellent base for ambitious mountaineers wishing to explore the surrounding region. Most of the walks and hikes are challenging, so guests need not only the right level of fitness and experience for such mountain adventures but also the right equipment. Indeed, the approach to the hut itself is relatively challenging. The reward for all that hard work is a majestic panorama taking in countless peaks over 3,000 metres in altitude. The hut sleeps 40 guests, most in dormitories, and is open from early July until the middle of September. There is an emergency room which is kept open in winter.
