The Gamshütte (1,921 metres) in the Zillertal Alps is a good place to start or end a hike along the Berlin High Trail.
Traditional hut on the Tuxer Kamm ridge

The Gamshütte may be relatively simple when it comes to furnishings and amenities, but it offers walkers and hikers either starting or finishing an adventure along the Berlin High Trail a warm and friendly welcome. Situated on the northern reaches of the Tuxer Kamm ridge, the Gamshütte lies at the foot of three mountains - all of which demand alpine experience (black trails): the Vordere Grinbergspitze, the Mittlere Grinbergspitze and the Hintere Grinbergspitze. Up at the top, hikers can look forward to fabulous views and total silence. The hut, which serves hearty food, is also a good destination for a day hike. The approach through forests and meadows dotted with pink alpine roses is a beautiful experience.
