Description

Hut between Gschnitztal Valley and Stubai Glacier
German Alpine Club, Bremen Division

Situated at the foot of the eastern slopes of the Innere Wetterspitze (3,054 metres) in the heart of the Stubai Alps, a protected area of outstanding natural beauty, the Bremer Hütte offers walkers and hikers a hearty meal and a warm bed for the night. Constructed in 1897 by the Bremen Division of the German Alpine Club, it is located on terrain that used to be covered by glacier. All that remains today is a few pools of water in front of the hut  – and fabulous views of the surrounding mountains. The hut was renovated and expanded in 2004 and 2013. Today it sleeps 73 guests in a mixture of rooms and a large dormitory with matresses next to each other. There is a winter room and a clothes-drying room. A small hydroelectric plant provides electricity. The food is healthy and hearty. Vegetarian options are available. Visitors have the option of booking half-board. A rucksack transport service is available using the small cable car used to transport food and materials from the valley to the hut. There is a rock-climbing area near the hut with a number of climbing routes suitable for children.
