This easy walk to the Ganalm hut (1,190 metres) in the southern part of the Karwendel Mountains is ideal for families with children. The trail is wide and smooth, meaning it can be negotiated with buggies. The walk leads into a valley known as the "Vomper Loch" north of the village of Terfens. It is particularly recommended on hot days, when the many trees provide plenty of cool shade. However, that also means walkers should take a jacket with them in spring. The walk takes around three hours and offers fine views of the Tuxer Voralpen peaks and the Kellerjoch mountain (2,344 metres).

Trail description
From the village square in Terfens, drive up to the small settlement of Umlberg. At the end of the road you will find a few place in the forest where you can park. Stay right on the first section of the hike and follow the signs for "Ganalm". This wide trail leads gently uphill and is easily passable for robust buggies. The hut is reached after around 4.5 kilometres. It is located to the right of the main trail, about 20 metres away. Return along the way you came.
