This easy hike through the Schwarzachtal, an idyllic side valley branching off south from the larger Gerlostal Valley, is ideal for families with children. It is just 2.5 kilometres in length and leads up to the Schwarzachalm along wide, easy trails suitable for pushchairs and buggies. The hut is a good place to stop for a drink and a snack. Fit hikers can continue further up to another hut, the Obere Schwarzachalm, at 1,630 metres.

Trail description
This family-friendly hike begins at the Gasthof Kühle Rast (1,191 metres) and leads into the Schwarzachtal Valley. The trail is wide and easy, leading gently uphill through forests and meadows. At 1,379 metres above sea level you will reach the Jausenstation Schwarzachtal, a good place to stop for a drink and a snack.
Tip! Fit hikers can continue along hiking trail number 8 to the Obere Schwarzachalm (1,630 metres), another hut located slightly further up in a side valley. Return along the way you came.
Tip! Experienced hikers can even climb to the top of the 2,475-metre-high Schwarzachscharte ridge.
