Ridgetop Hike Serfaus - Fiss

This hike of intermediate difficulty leads along the ridge above Serfaus and Fiss, taking in four mountain summits on the way. The views are spectacular on both sides. The adevnture begins at the mid-way station of the Komperdellbahn cable car. Hikers pass the Fisser Waal and then head steeply uphill to the highest point of the walk, the Vorderer Brunnenkopf (2,682 metres). This is where the ridgetop part begins, up over the Hinterer Sattelkopf (2,653 metres), the Oberer Sattelkopf (2,596 metres) and the Zwölferkopf (2,596 metres), with the latter requiring a slight diversion. The only place serving food and drink along the way is the Panoramarestaurant Bergdiamant at the end of the route – the food is hearty and the views are spectacular.

Trail description

The hike starts with a ride on the Komperdell cable car to the middle station at 1,982 metres. It is there that the hike begins, with the route following the Quellenweg trail to a fork. Head left and uphill to the Fisser Waal. Via serpentines and past a wrought-iron cross you will eventually reach the highest point of the hike, the Vorderer Brunnenkopf at 2,682 metres. From there, continue over the Hinterer Sattelkopf to the Oberer Sattelkopf. Keep heading in an easterly direction, following the path below the Zwölferkopf to the top station of the Schönjochbahn cable car. From there, take the gondola back to the valley.

Tip! This hike can also be completed in the opposite direction. In that case, take the cable car to the top of the Schönjochbahn and hike across to the middle station of the Komperdellbahn.
