This short, easy hike leads along historical paths in the border region between Tirol and Bavaria to the ruins of Porta Claudia, a fortification dating back to the 30 Years' War. Claudia de' Medici, Archduchess of Austria and Princess of Tirol, had this dam built between Tirol and Bavaria in 1633. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe even mentions the Porta Claudia in his work Italian Journey as a "rampart that closes off the valley and borders the mountains". Please be aware that this hike contains quite a large number of steps uneven terrain, making it unsuitable for pushchairs and buggies.
