This hike leads through the Obernbergtal Valley, a protected area of outstanding natural beauty, to the Obernberger See lake at around 1,600 metres above sea level. This lake is a popular destination for hikers and nature lovers. Its deep blue water, quaint bridge, small chapel (Kapelle Maria am See) on the left bank and spectacular backdrop of the mighty Tribulaun mountains make for a memorable day out. There is a well-maintained walking trail around the lake, which takes around an hour to complete.

Trail description
This hike begins at the car park next to the Gasthof Waldesruh at the end of the valley in Obernberg. From the Gasthof Waldesruh guesthouse, the trail turns left to the Obernberger See lake. It leads towards the end of the valley, with some steep sections, past the Obereinsalm hut to the former guesthouse (now closed) at the start of the lake. From there, a well-maintained trail leads around the lake itself and back to the guesthouse. Walkers then descend back along the way they came to the Gasthof Waldesruh.
