Trail description
The national park shuttle bus stops right in front of Matreier Tauernhaus lodge. From there the trail into Innergschlöss starts, leading along the eastern side of the Gschlössbach stream. Rewarding stops along the way are “D’Hölle“, where the streams of Dichtenbach and Tauernbach merge. Right behind is where you will find the chocolate-box alpine pasture village of Außergschlöss with uninterrupted panoramic views of the mighty Schlatenkees glacier. The historic rock chapel located between the alpine pastures of Innergschlöss and Outergeschlöss is a perfect place for taking some quiet time listening to nature and absorbing the amazing scenery, surrounded by pure mountain beauty. The route continues to the Venedigerhaus lodge (1,691 metres) in Innergschlöss.
To get back to the trailhead, you can either take trail number 925, which runs south of Gschlössbach strea. If there is still snow on the ground, take the same route out that you walked in.
