There are plenty of culinary highlights on offer in the mountain restaurant at Mutterer Alm, but before settling down for a meal there is just time to stretch your legs and enjoy the fabulous views of the Inn Valley and the Nordkette Mountains to the north of Innsbruck. This hike is also ideal for children and teenagers as it offers lots of great activities and things to explore on the way back to the restaurant. After all that action, what better place to relax than in the local mountain restaurant? "It is really child-friendly, the service is excellent and the presentation on the plate is first class," says Kathrin Siller, editor at the Tiroler Tageszeitung, Tirol's biggest regional newspaper. She and her family live nearby, meaning they are regular visitors to the Mutterer Alm.

Trail description
This short walk through the Family Park at Mutterer Alm begins at the top of the cable car. Hikers first head left past the mountain restaurant and underneath the lift. The trail then leads downhill along the edge of the forest, parallel to the ski piste, until it intersects with another trail beneath the cable car. Walk a few metres down the piste and then take the path left into the forest. After a few hundred metres through the forest you will reach an idyllic pond. From there, continue to follow the trail past the activity park and the artificial lake. Finally, complete a loop around the lake and head back to the restaurant near the top of the cable car.
