The Kitzbüheler Horn (1,996 metres) is one of the most popular and spectacular mountains in the Kitzbühel Alps. This beautiful walk of intermediate difficulty leads from the top of the Harschbichl lifts (1,604 metres) and leads around the summit of the mountain once, including a visit to the top. The view is spectacular, taking in the mighty Hohe Tauern Mountains including the highest peak in Austria, the Großglockner (3,798 metres), and the Großvenediger (3,657 metres), as well as the Zillertal Alps and the Wilder Kaiser Mountains. The trail is well-maintained but can be steep in places and has several exposed sections. Hikers must be sure-footed.

Trail description
The adventure begins with a ride up on the Harschbichlbahn cable car to 1,604 metres above sea level. Here, on the north-facing side of the Kitzbüheler Horn, head south on foot. After a while you will reach a steep section which is exposed in places and has steel ropes ancored into the rock for safety. This will take you all the way up to the summit of the Kitzbüheler Horn at 1,996 metres above sea level. Take a little time to enjoy the view and have a drink and a snack before starting the descent to the east of the summit along a narrow ridge towards Hoferschneid. Continue towards the Huberalm hut (1,080 metres). At the point where the trail branches off to the Huberalm hut, stay left and follow the path all the way back to the top of the Harschbichlbahn cable car.
This hike can also be completed in the opposite direction.
Tip! We recommend a visit to the alpine flower garden near the building at the top of the Kitzbüheler Horn. It is spread across 20,000 square metres and is home to more than 400 species of flowering plants native to the Alps.
