The Hamberg mountain towers above the village of Stumm in the Zillertal Valley and and offers some of the most beautiful views in the region. Hikers will be able to marvel at not only the Zillertal Valley, but also the Alpbachtal Valley, the Märzengrund Valley, the Inn Valley and Lake Achensee. The hike to the 2,095-metre-high summit is tricky in places, so walkers must be sure-footed and have good overall fitness, but the scenery is a fine reward for all that effort. There are no huts along the way, so pack plenty of food and drink.

Trail description
This hike begins at the Alpengasthof Bergrast (now closed) at 1,040 metres above sea level, around 5.4 kilometres from the centre of Stumm. From there, the hiking route leads along the tarmac road in a northerly direction. Keep right at the first junction and turn left into the forest at a stone wall almost at the end of the road. The hiking trail then leads in a north-easterly direction uphill past the Windhagaste to the Dematsteinaste. Shortly after, cross the forest path and continue through the forest to the next hut, the Steinbergaste, at an altitude of around 1,750 metres. The route then leads through meadows, interspersed terrain and up steep hairpin bends to the Hamberg mountain (2,095 metres). The descent follows the same route.
