Trail description
The hike begins with a ride up on the Eggalmbahn cable car from the village of Lanersbach. From the top of the cable car (1,950 metres) there is a trail heading left (trail number 35) in a westerly direction. At around 2,200 metres above sea level hikers reach another path heading uphill in a south-easterly direction through lush meadows to the Grüblspitze mountain. From the summit at 2,395 metres there are fine views of the many mountains in the region, including the Zillertal Alps to the south-east. From the top of the mountain head down left over the Zilljöchl ridge to the Stoankasern mountain dairy producing homemade butter and cheese. The route back into the valley leads along a wide trail (322) next to the Junsbach river back to Lanersbach. There are a number of places in the village selling local food, including the Pension Hermannsklause.
