Hidden away in a narrow valley resembling a gorge, the Eifersbacher Waterfall is over 25 metres high and the perfect place to cool off on hot summer days. It can be accessed via an easy walking trail. Several sections, especially those leading past the waterfall, have handrails for added safety. Highlights en route include the charming chapel at Theresienbad and – on the way back to the starting point – the Hotel-Gasthof Pointenhof serving hearty Tirolean food. Don't forget to plan a little extra time so you can lie down on the recliners at the Hornblicksee lake and enjoy the view.

Trail description
The hike begins in the centre of St. Johann in Tirol. Follow the Bruggbäckweg along the banks of the Fieberbrunner Ache river, then turn right, cross over the railway tracks and head left towards Almdorf. There, take the Mag.-Eduard-Angerer-Weg to the right. Shortly after, follow the signs for Gasthof Grander Schupf. The trail leads along the edge of the forest in a south-easterly direction, across the Wendbach stream and under a ski lift before heading back into the forest, where the trail merges with another forest trail next to the Aiffersbachermühle building, a former mill. Follow this new trail right, gently uphill, all the way to the waterfall at 881 metres above sea level. The hike then continues in a westerly direction, up a short but steep ascent to a wide forest road. There head left until, after a few minutes, you reach the Hornblicksee lake. The final section leads past two huts, the Dechantalm and the Lackneralm, before reaching the Pointenhof farmstead and guesthouse. This is a good place to stop for a meal. All that then remains is a short descent down through the forest to Almdorf and then back to the starting point in St. Johann in Tirol.
