This walk high above the town of Schwaz in the Tirolean Unterland offers fabulous views of the Gilfert, Kellerjoch and – for parents willing to push the buggy up onto the Loas-Sattel ridge – even the Zillertal Valley as far as the village of Hochfügen.
The trail, which is mostly slightly uphill but has a few steeper sections, leads through forests and meadows to the Gasthof Loas. The length can be adapted to suit the fitness and ambition level of the walkers - there are a number of car parks along the way, so you can drive as far as you want and then leave the car there. The Gasthof Loas is a traditional wooden guesthouse in the mountains famed for its huge "Loas-Schnitzel" and sweet pastries. The same trail is used in winter as a family-friendly toboggan run.
