Covering 20,000 square metres and featuring more than 300 different plant species from all over the world, the alpine flower garden established by the Hofer family is a hub of biodiversity. It is located on the famous Kitzbüheler Horn mountain and can be accessed via a moderately difficult hike starting at the top of the cable car and leading 14 kilometres back down into the valley. The garden, which lies at 1,880 metres above sea level, is home to not only flowers not from the local alpine region but also from the Caucasus, the Andes, the Pyrenees and the Himalayas. The route continues downhill across alpine pastures, past the famous Sonnbergstuben (758 metres) guesthouse.

Trail description
This hike begins in Kitzbühel with a ride up into the mountains on the Hornbahn I and Horn-Gipfelbahn cable cars all the way to almost 2,000 metres above sea level. From there – just below the summit of the Kitzbüheler Horn mountain – you will find a trail leading to the alpine flower garden established and tended to by the Hofer family (the garden is accessible free of charge). Once you have admired the many flowers on display, continue downhill via the Lämmerbühelalm hut to the Bichlalm hut (906 metres), with just one short uphill section to contend with on the way. Continue downhill along the "Alter Sonnbergweg", past the "Rosi's Sonnbergstuben" guesthouse all the way to the bottom of the cable car.
