The trail then gently winds its way up to the Spielissjoch and the impressive Falkenhütte.

Highlights

Eagle View Stage 9 · The Großer Ahornboden is a protected area of outstanding natural beauty with more than 2000 sycamore trees between 300 and 600 years old growing in front of a spectacular rock backdrop. Early summer and autumn are the two best times to visit this area and admire the incredible colours of nature.

Eagle Kick Stage 9 · Measuring almost 1,000 metres from bottom to top, the Laliderer Wände are a series of sheer rockfaces in the Karwendel Mountains and home to some of the best climbing in the Northern Limestone Alps. Most of the routes are challenging (rated IV to VIII on the Austrian difficulty scale), though as you get closer you will see that the rocks hide more handholds and footholds than appear at first sight.

Trail description

Starting point: Lamsenjochhütte

From the Lamsenjochhütte hut, head a few metres back along the way you approached the hut and then take the fork in the trail towards "Binsalm" and "Falkenhütte". The trail passes through a section of loose rocks beneath the Lamsenspitze mountain and heads up towards the Westliches Lamsenjoch ridge (1940 m). On the other side of this ridge the descent begins to Binsalpe / Eng. The narrow trail soon widens, leading past the upper building of the Binsalm hut. There are several opportunities to for short-cuts. Soon hikers will reach the main building of the Binsalm hut.

From here, hikers walk along a wide trail down into the alpine village of Eng (1,270 m) with many traditional huts and ancient sycamore trees. After passing the last few buildings, hikers turn off right onto a wide path leading to the Falkenhütte. This trail winds its way gently uphill through meadows and forests to the Hohljoch ridge (1,794 m). From this ridge there is a good trail underneath the impressive Laliderer Wände rockfaces leading back down to around 1,700 m. The final section of this stage leads uphill once again to the Spielissjoch ridge and on to the Falkenhütte (1,848 m).
