Hiking the Eagle Walk with Public Transport

Tirol's comprehensive network of public transport makes it easy to travel around the region using trains and buses. Hikers wishing to take on part or all of the Eagle Walk can access the start and finish points of each stage using local public transport.

Wilder Kaiser Mountains

The North Tirol section of the Eagle Walk starts in the Wilder Kaiser Mountains. Three one-day stages lead through this impressive alpine landscape.

3 days | 34 km | 2,600 vertical metres | red (intermediate) trails

Start: St. Johann in Tirol train station

Day 1: St. Johann - Gaudeamushütte
Day 2: Gaudeamushütte - Hintersteiner See
Day 3: Hintersteiner See - Kufstein

Finish: Kufstein train station

Brandenberg Alps / Rofan Mountains

Four beautiful but challenging stages leading through alpine terrain await hikers in the Brandenberg Alps.

4 days | 65 km | 5,000 vertical metres | black (expert) trails

Start: Langkampfen train station

Day 1: Kufstein - Gasthof Buchacker
Day 2: Gasthof Buchacker - Pinegg
Day 3: Pinegg - Steinberg am Rofan
Day 4: Jausenstation Waldhäusl - Erfurter Hütte

Finish: Maurach bus station, Jenbach train station

Karwendel Mountains

From Lake Achensee via Innsbruck all the way to Leutasch, these seven stages of the Eagle Walk lead through the Karwendel Mountains.

This one-day stage of the Eagle Walk leads along the Zirbenweg Trail into the Tux Alps.

These stages of the Eagle Walk lead through the Leutaschtal Valley and the Gaistal Valley into the Wetterstein Mountains and then on into the Lechtal Alps.
