This mountain bike ride along trail number 6047 begins in Umhausen and leads up to two huts serving food and drink. The first part of the trail heads out of the valley to the settlement of Tumpen and from there uphill through the shady forest. The first of the two huts is the Vordere Tumpenalm (1,832 metres). This is followed shortly after by the second, the Armelenhütte, perched like an eagle's nest on the edge of the steep Armelenwand rockface. The Armelenhütte offers wonderful views of the Ötztal Valley plus good food and, should you need it, a bed for the night.

Trail description
This ride begins at the Mure car park (address: Dorf 30) in the centre of the village of Umhausen and leads along mountain bike route 6047. The first section heads out of the valley, through the open fields to the north-east of the village. Above the main road, ride through the settlement of Lehn and follow the signs towards Tumpen. There, cross over the Ötztaler Ache river and the road, ride past the primary school, turn right and then turn left straight away into the forest. A wide forest trail leads up via many corners up to 1,700 metres above sea level, where you will reach a fork in the trail. Take the left-hand fork and, after around one kilometre, you will reach the Vordere Tumpenalm serving food and drink. You can either stop here or continue on, alternatively, take the right-hand fork in the trail instead and go to the Armelenhütte (also around one kilometre from the fork in the trail). This hut also serves food and drink. It enjoys a spectacular location with wonderful views of the Ötztal Valley.
