Plenty of flow, loads of airtime and breathtaking views make the Peter Sagan Trail at the Bikepark Lienz a must for all freeriders in East Tirol. It measures 4.8 kilometres in length and drops a total of 500 vertical metres from top to bottom as it winds its way from the Sternalm hut to the Moosalm hut. All in all the trail has 55 banked corners, 18 rollers, loads of doubles, a few step-ups and a huge boner log – more than enough to keep trailriders busy. The reltively gentle gradient means the trail is rated just S2, making it suitable for both beginners and experienced riders. It can be combined with the Alban Lakata Trail to create a 7-kilometre-long descent that will leave even hardcore riders with pumped-out arms.

"The Peter Sagan Trail can be ridden nice and easy or super-fast. It has plenty of jumps, side hits and potential for gaps and tricks. The trail builders have been really creative. Fun, fun, fun!"

Trail description
The Peter Sagan Trail begins at the Sternalm hut, just a little down the mountain from the top of the Schlossalmbahn cable car. The starting point is well signposted and hard to miss. The first section through sparse forest is made up of a number of wide open switchbacks and banked corners, including a number of rollers and small tabletops.
After crossing a forest road, the banked corners get more intense and require more braking than before. However, this section is followed once again by a faster bit where riders can pick up speed. The trail then leave the forest and leads down along a ski piste with wide open turns heading down towards the valley.
There is one more forest section with a few banked corners before the trail enters a long, fast traverse. This is the place to let it roll and pick up plenty of speed for the small tables and jumps that follow, where riders with plenty of speed (and courage) can get some serious airtime. The trail then merges with a gravel road.
Soon after, it branches off again to the left and invites riders to complete a step-up before things get flowy. Cross the gravel road again, but this time turn off right and head through the forest until you eventually end up back on the gravel road. The final section passes the Speicherteich Taxermoos reservoir before reaching the Moosalm hut, where this trail ends and the Alban Lakata Trail begins.
Tip!
Experienced riders can take on a more challenging trail called "Welcome to the Jungle". This crosses the Peter Sagan Trail several times, meaning riders can switch between the two trails as and when they wish.
