This ride leads up, up, up to the highest Naturfreundehaus hut in Austria – the Padasterjochhaus at 2,232 metres above sea level, offering wonderful views of the green Gschnitztal Valley and the mighty mountains between the Habicht and the Serles in the Stubai Alps. However, riders will need strong legs and good fitness to reach the hut built all the way back in 1907. The ride can also be turned into a bike & hike by adding an ascent on foot of the Kirchdachspitze mountain at 2,840 metres or the Hammerspitze at 2,634 metres.

Trail description
The ride begins at the Tal car park in the settlement of Leiten, around 450 metres east of the parish church in Trins, next to the Talbach stream on the edge of the forest. Follow the wide dirt track uphill into the Burgwald forest, along route 577. After 2.8 kilometres, at an altitude of 1,640 metres, you will reach a series of switchback corners leading up towards the Padasterjochhaus. After a further 5.9 kilometres and 390 vertical metres of climbing, continue straight on at the point where the trails cross. The final section leads through open pastures to the Padasterjochhaus at 2,232 metres.
Return along the way you came.
