Trail description
This ride begins at the "Unterer Stadtplatz" square in the centre of Kufstein and initially leads in a northerly direction along the Inn Cycle Path towards Oberndorf. Around one kilometre after passing through Oberndorf the route then leaves the banks of the river and turns off right into the centre of Ebbs.
Having passed through Ebbs on the B175, turn right onto the "Walchsee Bundesstraße" (B172) towards Kössen. This road continues gently uphill for around two kilometres before reaching the point where the road branches off to Rettenschöss. Stay left and continue along this quiet road all the way to Walchsee, where the craggy peaks of the Kaiser Mountains become visible for the first time.
The B172 then takes riders to Kössen. Shortly after leaving the village the route turns right onto the L39 towards Erpfendorf. Stay on this road and head gently uphill. You will soon reach St. Johann in Tirol.
Turn off right in the centre of St. Johann in Tirol, onto the "Innsbrucker Landesstraße". Shortly after you will need to turn left and pass under the "Loferer Bundesstraße" (B178) before continuing along a series of pretty and quiet roads to Oberndorf. Continue up over the "Rerobichler Waldrücken" to Reith and past the Kitzbüheler Schwarzsee lake, where riders can once again look forward to fine views of the Kaiser Mountains.
The next section between Kirchberg and Brixen im Thale is rolling and eventually culminates in a descent down into the centre of Westendorf. As you pass each village you will have to leave the B170 in order to avoid riding through the tunnels.
Ride on through Westendorf and then take the B170. Continue via Hopfgarten to Bruckhäusl and along quiet roads to Kirchbichl, with the final section once again on the Inn Cycle Path back to the starting point in Kufstein.
Tip! This route is best ridden on weekdays as the roads can be busy at weekends.
