Trail description
This mountainbike ride starts in Fiss. Riders take the Schönjochbahn cable car (extra ticket for bike required) up onto the Fisser Joch ridge. After a short transition climbing around 60 vertical metres along a gravel road they will reach the start of the Frommes Trail on the Schönjöchl ridge at 2,490 metres above sea level.
Those who fancy a challenge can pedal up to the Schönjöchl ridge. The tough ascent starts at the Bikepark Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis and follows the signs up onto the mountain. The section from Steinegg to the Fisser Jöchl is very challenging. Up on the ridge, all that remains are the final 60 vertical metres of ascent from the top of the cable car to the start of the trail.
The first section leads down past a reservoir to the summit of the Mateskopf mountain (2,250m). From here the trail winds its way along alpine meadows towards the valley, before reaching a Swiss pine forest with plenty of fun root sections combined with faster flowy parts. The trail then ends in Fiss. From there, riders take the forest road back to the starting point at the bottom of the Schönjochbahn cable car. Those with enough energy left can make their way back up to the top and do it all again!
Important information: Sections of the trail (such as the first part from the Schönjochkreuz to the reservoir) have yellow signs to indicate that bikers and hikers share the same route. Pleae ride carefully along these sections, especially when you are unable to see what is ahead.
