The easy, 19 kilometer long stage travels past "Zwischentoren" – a region deeply rooted in history as it used to be an important trade and traffic route in the past. Connecting Reutte in the foothills of Zugspitze and the village of Ehrwald, the trail for quite ambitious cyclists and bikers covers about 300 meters of altitude gain.
- Right at the start of the tour you have to conquer a moderate ascent with 140 meters of altitude gain, leading to the saddleback near the Hochschanz castle ruins.
- After the first ascent the route takes you via Heiterwang and Bichlbach along a slightly descending trail to the little town of Ehrwald - where another short and quite easy ascent awaits you.
- The entire stage offers uninterrupted views of Zugspitze peak and the historical castle rocks: Schlosskopf Fortress, together with Ehrenberg Castle, a retreat and Fort Claudia (Hochschanz castle ruins) are ranking among central Europe's most renowned fortified castle ensembles.
