With the heat of summer over and the cold of winter still a few months away, autumn is a great time of year to discover Tirol. The hiking trails are less busy than in the summer months, the autumnal air is crisp and clear, and the trees are a sea of colours ranging from red to orange to yellow. Autumn is probably the best time of year for hiking. Clear air means you can see for many kilometres, while the cooler temperatures make for a more pleasant experience than in summer. Oh, and the trails are normally much quieter than during peak season.

Gravel biking may be all the rage right now, but here in Tirol we have been doing it for years. The region’s trails are perfect for this mix of road biking and mountain biking, with plenty of steep climbs and speedy descents. Oh, and many of the routes lead past at least one mountain hut.
