Every year on the first weekend of May, the traditional Gauder Fest – Austria’s largest spring and traditional costume festival – is held in Zell am Ziller with multiple attractions.
The “highlight” of the annual Gauder Festival is the traditional festival parade, which has developed with its colourful costumes and music groups, historic carriages, floats, horse and oxen to the largest national costume parade of Austria. As every year, the event is held on the first weekend of May in 2024 and will again draw thousands of spectators lining the streets of Zell. A not-to-miss-event for lovers of tradition!
The Gauder Fest is opened with the traditional beer tapping by the provincial governor of Tirol and the Gambrinus speech on May 03, 2024. You don’t want to miss out on the beer tapping of the super-strong Gauder beer (reputedly over 10% alcohol), brewed especially for this shindig. As well as eating, dancing and drinking, there’s a Radio Tirol Gala, Alpine-style wrestling, a Gauder Market, and an animal expo on Saturday and an outdoor mass on Sunday, May 05, 2024. There will be live music and entertainment for all ages at the festivity area, on the sports field and on pavilion square.
