Cattle Drives in Imst Region

Tarrenz, -

In September, sheep and lambs will return from their summer breaks up on the mountain pastures to the valley. Hundreds of locals and holidaymakers will line the streets to welcome their woolly four-legged friends home in Tarrenz, Roppen and Nassereith.

A river of sheep will be rolling down the mountain from Hinterberg Alpine Pasture Hut toward Tarrenz on September 08, 2024, during the biggest sheep drive in Imst Region. Bells are clanking, nervous ewes baaing and 4,000 hooves clicking down the road and parading through the village around 1:00pm. The spectacle is especially worthwhile at narrow and long Trujegasse Lane. Faced with the oncoming wall of wool, locals and holidaymakers line the streets and join the proud celebration on the meadow behind Gasthof Sonne Inn. Lamb also features heavily on the menus of many restaurants in the region at this time of year.

More cattle drives in Imst Region take place on September 01, 2024, in Nassereith and on September 07, 2024, in Roppen. Both events start at 10:00am.
