Rounding up the herds, sheep and horses for the annual cattle drives is taken as a reason to celebrate with live music and culinary delicacies in Pfunds in Tirol’s Oberland Region.
On September 14, 2024, the farmers are moving herds of cattle and horses from their summer grazing grounds to the winter stables down in the valley. The first herds are expected to arrive in the village of Pfunds by 10:00am, the cows by 12:30 noon and the horses by 2:00pm. Visitors and locals celebrate their homecoming at Ensplatz Square over live music and a delightful farmer’s market. Of course, an array of signature local dishes and culinary specialties will be available.
One week later, on September 20 and 21, 2024, about 400 mountain sheep run down the village streets for the annual Sheep Drive. While the woolies are shorn, visitors celebrate their homecoming over live music at Ensplatz Square.
