Experience one of the most remarkable feats of military history and discover the world of Hannibal in a spectacular show at Soelden Rettenbach Glacier this April!
In April 2024, Rettenbach Glacier high above Sölden once again becomes the awe-inspiring natural arena for an ensemble of five hundred as the Glacier Spectacle takes historical Carthage straight to Tirol’s mountains: Snow cats as elephants. Skiers, climbers, and parachutists act as modern-day warriors. Giant horsemen cross the endless glacier fields on their skidoos while flying acrobats try to hinder the attack. The ultimate showdown features plenty of music, light effects, video films and pyrotechnic shows. Last time about eight thousand spectators had gathered to witness live and with all senses the incredible adventure of Carthage’s most popular commander.
The spectacular performance of “Hannibal” sets the historical events of the Second Punic War and the biography of its most important protagonist in the contemporary language of today’s theater at 3,000 meters about sea level, in the most original stage set possible, transcribing the images of this hero into poetic pictures. This outstanding spectacle is performed every two years.
