This event is your best chance to taste of the pride of Hall, the special, intensely flavourful and spicy radish that grows in the environs of Hall. Each year in spring, it’s the star of this show.
In Hall‚ the savoury aroma of radishes signals spring and the annual Radish Festival‚ held each year on the last Saturday of April‚ is Hall’s harvest celebration. Every year, visitors pay homage to one of the Thaur and Absam area’s best loved crops, the radish. 60% of all radishes grown in Austria, along with a rich variety of other vegetables, come from what is considered “Austria’s largest vegetable garden”.
In its 22nd year, the festival begins at 10:00am with a festive parade of Thaur Brass Band, local Schuhplattler folklore groups and vegetable farmers and vintage tractors. Festivities are then officially opened by the mayors of Hall and Thaur and by the Radish Princess on Stiftsplatz Square. There’s plenty of family fun to be had in Hall. The event features music‚ traditional dancing, arts and crafts‚ kids’ activities, culinary delicacies and, of course, radishes‚ radishes‚ radishes.
