The end of the summer grazing season is celebrated with a grand cattle drive in the chocolate-box village of Reith in Alpbachtal Valley. In 2024, visitors can look forward to a true folk festival with a farmers and crafts market.
The herds are rounded up on Alpine pastures in the environs of Reith in Alpbachtal Valley and driven down to the valley on two dates, September 21 and 28, 2024. Decked out in garlands of flowers and ribbons, with bells attached to their heavy leather collars, the cattle will pass through the village around noon.
Craftsmen who strive to maintain their traditional working practices stand by ready to share a few tricks of the trade with visitors as of 10:00am. Homemade schnapps is a yet more indispensable element of this charming festival. Diverse bands and local folklore groups provide great entertainment and a wonderful atmosphere, where visitors are well catered for with food and drink.
