The safe homecoming of cows and calves is celebrated with a grand parade, culinary delicacies and entertainment at the marquee in Steeg in Lechtal Valley.
The coming home of the cattle for winter from Pimigalpe, Krabachalpe, Stieralpe, Vorderbockbach and Älpele is a reason for great celebration. Decked out in garlands of flowers and ribbons, the cows are expected to arrive in the valley by around 11:00am.
Visitors are recommended to get there earlier, as the main street will be closed for hours. The traditional folk festival at the marquee kicks-off in the early afternoon, featuring live music by the Steeg Brass Band. In the evening, the herdsmen will arrive there accompanied by cowbell sounds. A wonderful cowbell will be raffled among all festival visitors.
