Is that design or art? And who cares what the difference is between the two? One man who certainly does not is Charly Walter, the creative mastermind and owner of styleconception – and that is just the way it should be.
Charly Walter's "designart" showroom displays a wide range of contemporary design and art, mainly one-offs and small series of furniture, lamps and living accessories catering for all tastes and budgets – almost always original, often funny, and sometimes simply beautiful. Walter is also on hand to give tips on the best way of incorporating a certain item into a certain living space. Styleconception is all about adding a little spice to everyday life and creating a truly individual home. Together with a network of architects and interior designers, Walter also provides design concepts for entire flats and houses.

The showroom, which is based in a former factory in the Wilten district of Innsbruck, also hosts temporary art exhibitions and discussion evenings. However, a word of warning: Walter is often out and about visiting clients, so rather than relying on the showroom's opening hours it is better to call and make an appointment – otherwise you may find yourself standing in front of styleconception's beautifully crafted but firmly locked doors.
