Pichler Schokolade

Exotic creations such as pannacotta & wild berry chocolate have made Pichler Schokolade from the Sillian in East Tirol a real favourite among chocoholics throughout the region.

First, let's get a couple of things straight. 1. Life without chocolate is possible but pointless. 2. Humans can resist anything – except temptation itself. Not convinced? Then it is time to pay a visit to the town of Sillian in East Tirol and try a bar of their Pichler's double-decker chocolate with pannacotta & wild berry chocolate, lime and Szechuan pepper, or classic dark chocolate with a shot of espresso. Sweet dreams

If you think that the only fine chocolate comes from Switzerland and Belgium, then think again. Hans Gerhard Pichler from Sillian produces some of the best hand-made chocolate you will find anywhere. Yet these delicate and often exotic creations are still somewhat of an insider tip in the fine chocolate scene, with only a few select stores such as Rajsigl in Innsbruck and Witte’s at the Naschmarkt market in Vienna stocking these sweet treats.

As well as fine chocolate, Hans Gerhard and his wife Petra Pichler also run a traditional bakery and patisserie as well as a coffee house and bread & breakfast. So if you ever find that you have overdosed on Pichler chocolate, a loaf of Pichler bread from the family-run bakery is a great alternative.
