Innsbruck-based fashion designer Hermine Span is a specialist for screen prints depicting animals native to the Alps. Almost every item in her collection is a one-off, pretty much eliminating the chance of experiencing one of those awkward moments at a party when you see someone who is wearing exactly the same thing as you - and looks even better in it!
Dedicated followers of fashion (and even those with no more than a passing interest) will immediately recognise an item of clothing from Garage Span, including the cow motif which has made Hermine Span's fashion boutique famous throughout Innsbruck and beyond.
Span-ning the fashion spectrum
The Innsbruck native is a specialist for prints depicting all kinds of animals native to the Alps. From T-shirts and dresses to skirts, overcoats and trousers - the items are eye-catching and often amusing. Rarely has the statement been more true that you are what you wear.
Span's collections for men and women are always original without being achingly hip, creative without being bombastic. One thing which is common to all the many items is that they don't take themselves or the world of fashion too seriously, yet at the same time show that fashion can and must work out in the real world and not just on the catwalk.
And if you find yourself wondering about the name of the boutique, then the best way to find out what it's all about is by paying Hermine a visit in the former automobile garage and workshop in the Angerzellgasse in Innsbruck which has been home to her atelier and showroom for the past 30 years.
