Situated in a small valley at the foot of the Lienz Dolomites, Lake Tristacher See is one of the best-known and most popular lakes in East Tirol.
The lake’s deep-water drainage system ensures exceptionally clean water which reaches a pleasant 24°C in summer.
Facilities include large sunbathing lawns and plenty of trees providing shade as well as parasols and deckchairs for hire. Drinks, snacks and ice creams are available from the lakeside snack bar. Children can make new friends at the playground, while sports enthusiasts play beach volleyball or take a walk around the lake on the circular hiking trail leading past the “Alter See”, a natural biotope for plants and animals.
Accommodation is provided at the campsite next to the lake or the four-star Hotel Tristacher See with award-winning food. The hotel is located on the western shore of the lake and offers a wide variety of spa and beauty treatments as well as saunas, massages and an indoor swimming pool.
The Tristacher See is easy to get to from nearby Lienz. Visitors arriving by car must park at the “Parkplatz Seewiese”, where a fee is charged from the start of July until the start of August. There is also a free shuttle bus service to the lake.
