The small but perfectly formed Lake Reither See in the Alpbachtal Valley is a haven of peace and quiet popular with visitors of all ages.

This body of water, which covers 1.45 hectares and is up to eight metres deep in places, is situated in the centre of Reith im Alpbachtal and is proof that, as the saying goes, good things come in small packages. Facilities around the lake include well-tended sunbathing lawns, a children’s area, toilets and changing cabins. In summer the temperature of the exceptionally clean water averages 23°C.
The lake is particularly popular with families thanks to its large grassy areas, children’s paddling pool and diving board. Those wishing to venture a little further afield can hire a rowing boat to catch their own lunch or dinner (fishing permit required). There are also plenty of tasty local delicacies on offer at the nearby restaurant.
While the eastern side of the Reither See has many attractions and activities, the western shore is a protected area of marshland with tall reeds where the lake’s many native water birds live and breed.
