The Alpachtal Valley is home to many natural swimming lakes, including the Reintalersee.
Of all the lakes around the small town of Kramsach, the Reintalersee is the largest at 29.4 hectares. Together with the adjacent Krummsee it is also one of the warmest anywhere in Tirol, with temperatures reaching up to 26°C in summer. This, combined with the excellent water quality, makes it popular in summer. The lake is made up of three natural pools, with the eastern pool the deepest at 10.3 metres.
Facilities around the lake include well-tended sunbathing lawns, changing cabins, a nudist area, children’s play areas, a beach volleyball court, a boat rental service and a campsite as well as a number of hiking paths with great views. One of the most popular trails is a circular walk around the shore, past the open-air Museum of Tirolean Farms and a number of snack bars and restaurants.
Last but not least, the Reintalersee is very popular with anglers and has a large trout population. Fishers can simply bring along their own equipment (including bait) and get a fishing permit from the “Fischerstube”.
