Lake Mittersee, the Blindsee and the Weißensee are a trio of lakes near the border between Tirol and the Allgäu region over the border in Germany.
Of the three lakes, the Mittersee with its spectacular mountain panorama and charming small fisherman’s hut is considered the most beautiful. On hot days in summer many people flock to this body of water close to the German border to relax and cool off. Directly next to the lake there is a large sunbathing area and a children’s playground. Older children will enjoy exploring the nearby forest.
The crystal clear water is home to many species of fish, including trout and carp. However, anglers require a permit – just like scuba divers, campers and those who wish to explore the lake on a raft. The lake is privately owned by the Hotel Mohr Life Resort in Lermoos.

The walk from Biberwier to the lake takes just over an hour. Visitors arriving by car should park in the car park on the edge of Biberwier, before the exit to the Fernpass/Nassereith road. From there it is just a short walk along a flat road to get to the lake.
